Comments:

Eva Cassidy’s third posthumous album consists of mostly live-recordings done in the studio as demos or rehearsals. Most tracks are sparsely orchestrated and come out almost as acoustics.

One of the stand-outs is the soul-rocking ”Drowning in a Sea of Love”, which is also somewhat atypical of the album. Other great performances are ”Dark Eyed Polly”, which Cassidy first heard played by Fairport Convention., and Claire Hammill’s ”You Take my Breath Away”.

There are also fine covers of Cindy’s Lauper’s ”True Colours” and Paul Simon’s ”American Tune”.

I’m not particularly impressed by the more jazzy songs like ”It Don’t Mean a Thing” and ”Hallelujah I Love Him So”, but I guess that mostly a matter of taste. My least favourite is ”Yesterday”, as song which I find vastly overrated.
