Why a certified Tour Guide, you may ask,
and what is it?

The Department of Tourism developed a procedure to support and guarantee qualified and professional Tourism Industry Services. To get this special “Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification” (T.T.T.I.C.) on top of the common license, a Tour Guide has to prove his knowledge and expertise through education and experience before the Bureau of Standards.

 A ceritified Tour Guide is trained to take special care of his guests and will introduce to you the amazing tropical flora and fauna you otherwise might just step by without noticing. Naturally he knows the habitats of the various wildlife so you can be sure to get the outmost of your visit on Tobago.

In addition, he has to fulfill certain standards of professionalism to guarantee your safety on a tour, like e.g. emergency training, safety equipment, attending workshops to permanently improve skills, etc.

How do I know who is certified?

Every ceritfied Tour Guide receives an official name badge and t-shirts from the Department of Tourism to identify himself as a certified Tour Guide.
