      ACADIAN FRENCH
   (Cajun)

The first Acadians arrived in Louisiana in the 1760's after
being exiled from their homes in Canada because they would not
swear allegiance to the king of England and they would not give up
their Catholic faith. After many hardships they found their new home
in Louisiana where they still observe many of the old traditions that
have been passed down to them over the years. The culture that is
uniquely "Cajun" is expressed in their colorful language, delicious
food and their love of life,Their desire to enjoy life to it's fullest
is reflected in their music . As probably the most popular Cajun
expression says,
" Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouller"!!
(Let The Good Times Roll!)
