22/12/01) Brad Renfro avoids jail threat.
Actor Brad Renfro may be nearing the end of his legal troubles
in Fort Lauderdale, his lawyer said.
At a hearing Thursday, attorney Bart Heffernan reported that an
underage drinking charge against Renfro in his hometown of
Knoxville, Tenn., had been dismissed.
The charge threatened to put Renfro in jail, as a possible violation
of his probation in Broward County.
Renfro, who appeared in the movies The Client and Bully, is on two
years' probation for trying to steal a $175,000 45-foot yacht from
Holiday Harbor in August 2000

Renfro plays the son, but his character's name (Dothan Talbot) isn't
that of the son in the novel (Sam Callahan). Plus... the son is
supposed to be 13, which Renfro clearly isn't (he's 17). Bug Hall,
however, was 14 when the movie was filmed and has a much younger
look. (Note: As the plot summary below says, Renfro plays a jock
with whom Sam doesn't get along.) |
