Wolverine "From Then 'Til Now" Set II
Cards 001 - 005

1 - Wolverine - Wolverine is a man of contradictions: superhero and outlaw, moral philosopher and psychotic, loner and family man. He's a protector of society who feels ill-at-ease within it. He's a breaker of rules who binds himself to a code of honor, a world-famous adventurer who hodes behind a false identity, a savage killer of criminals and kind friend to children. He's a beast and a man, all in one person.

2 - Change - Various writers, artists and editors have been responsible for guiding Wolverine's development over the years at Marvel Comics. He has changed a great deal over that time; in fact, if some of the initial plans for Wolvie had been carried out, he would be a very different character today!

3 - Mutation - In the early days, Wein and Cockrum had toyed with the idea of revealing that Wolvie was indeed an actual wolverine who had been mutated into a human being, possibly by the monster geneticist, the 'High Evolutionist'. This idea was quickly discarded.

4 - Fox-Like - Wanting to create a new team of X-Men, Ray Thomas and Dave Cockrum developed a number of characters to possibly join the team. Among them was a female vampire character and her brother, 'a vulpine type, an animalistic, bestial feral (character) called Wolverine'. This Wolverine had fangs, not claws, but sported the same hair-style of the Wolvie we know today.

5 - Aging - Inexplicable, unknown, obscure... these are good adjectives to describe Wolverine's past. The known facts are vague and inconsistant at best. On record, there is no known birth certificate or knowledge of age. Wolverine's mutant healing ability retards the aging process in his body to an unknown degree. Some have specualted that he is old enough to have served as a soldier during World War II.
