Sabretooth's Den

Vic's Women

Last update: 14 May 2009

Leni Zauber aka Mystique

I was half-way through a bottle of Dom Perignon when we first met in East Berlin. It seems so long ago, doesnt it? We were all younger. More passionate. It was a heady time to be alive.
(Sabretooth: Death Hunt, 3)

Vic meet 'Leni' when he was sent in to extract her after the assassination of a German scientist. Vic has thought he'd be the one to actually kill him, but Leni had already killed him by way a a complex poison in the champagne she was sharing with him.

"Where are the others? Control was supposed to send a complete extraction team!"
"Shut up and get movin'! We got the secret state kommandos creepin' up the stairs on us! The suits at Control must rate you a 'ten' on the butt-kick scale if they reckon all you need is one extractor on a hairy job like this!"
"I am glad they have such a high opinion of my talents... they must think pretty highly of you, too!"
"More like they figured on this bein' an easy way to get rid o' me!"

(Sabretooth: Death Hunt, 3)

The two of them holed up in a safe house at Unter Der Linden where they became lovers. Creed was fine with the situation, but Mystique got antsy before long (possibly from having to maintain the same form and only that form for an extended period). She went out to meet a contact and never returned.

Next time that Vic saw Leni, she was on a slab in the morgue.

"I know you ain't the real Leni Zauber... because I saw her laid out on the slab down at the morgue after the Polizei dragged her out of the canal!"
"You're right. That was the real Leni they hauled out of the canal, but you never met her. She was a boring bean counter from the accounting department. She was a convenient way for me to disappear."
(Sabretooth: Death Hunt, 3)

The next time Vic saw 'Leni' was in Paris - where he had traveled to complete a contract kill on Mystique. That was when he found out for the first time that his time with her had left Mysti with a souvenier.

"Now, what's this about a son, Leni -- or Mystique, or whoever you are! Is he a --?"
"A mutant? No. He's totally unexceptional and rather boring."
"You've got a kid? Where's he been all this time?"
".... I gave him up right after he was born. He would have put too big a crimp in my plans!"
(Sabretooth: Death Hunt, 3)

That son? Of all people, the infamous Greydon Creed of the Friends of Humanity. Personally, between his two parents, I think his ruthless streak came from Mystique.
