The United Federation Planets is comprised of thousands of planets contributed by it's elite membership which is scattered throughout the galaxy, mainly focused in the galaxy's core. It's existence fosters friendship among its member empires while providing an effective central governance to promote rapid growth and expansion.
The United Federation of Planets has been growing from only the size of less than 100 planets. Founded by GalacticEmpire with the support of kushari, the federation acted more as a training federation to the lower ranked empires. It's effective coaching has managed to spur competence among its membership, consisting primarily of newbies to the game. The federation's policy to train and accept new members openly has caused a membership boom shortly after it's founding.
In just a month of existence, the UFP has had a full membership, with always around one to 2 dozens of applicants still on the waiting list. Members who were given coaching turned this investment into increase in the federation's planet count in return and as a result, The UFP became one of the top 5 federations in the Normal Server, competing for better rankings with the Commonwelath (oldest federation in the game), Terra Nova Allaince, Lysander Clone Attac, and Hegemony.
However, the mainly trainee-populated membership wasn't easy to maintain, as members frequently leave the UFP either to join a bigger federation, or to leave the game. Federation expansion was severely limited by this. However, this issue can't be resolved in the shortest time possible and it remained the primary issue to the federation leader, which then tried to begin to form a federation populated by server elites, to be the backbone of its growth.
Around two months after it's founding, the UFP mobilized for a mojor war with the Terra Nova Alliance, which ranked above it then. The war which lasted less than a month saw to UFP's improvement in the federation rankings. With the fall of Commonwealth shortly, the United Federation of Planets is now in the top 3, with both Lysander Clone Attac and Hegemony ahead of it.
The UFP then decided that it will continue its best interest in aiming for a better position and thus a war with the Lysander Clone Attac was declared. This marks the climax of federation activites since its humble beggining. The UFP-LCA war was declared late September 2003 and lasted till mid 2004 and saw to a full-fledged war. Countless forum battles accompanies newly found tactics that were exploited to each other's benefit. Enslave attacks for the purpose of providing allied empires damage protection was common between UFP-WM and Hegemony-LCA and its massive exploitation finally led to its ban throughout the game. Market transfers too was frequently conducted, so cash-rich empires and races could quickly contribute to the growth of their federation. Its effect can clearly be seen in Guardian empires throughout mainstream federations, in which their capability to climb through ranks quickly put a stop to Terran domination in the top ranks.
The Lysander Clone Attac's determination to show they have dominated the game can be seen through Rafaction's (LCA) activation of the Kal-Zul Ultimate Weapon. Rafaction's UW attempt was brought to an end when his empire was suspended for market transfer, which at that time was illegal. Although defeated this way, many has said that he would have eventually be defeated by primarily joint UFP-WM attacks. The enraged members of LCA decided then to protest again the GMA decision by exploiting the voting loophole. Evergo's attempt saw the massive usage of Small Time Capsule Artifacts to give limitless turn boosts to participating empires, mainly to himself and his fellow fedmates who had defended him from climbing empires. The opposing empires, already exausted by Rafaction's attempt and hopeless in front of such unlimited amount of resources, had little to do. Evergo successfully conquered the Galaxy on September the 5th, 2004 with the hugest fleet ever seen.
UFP's answer came three months later, with SpartacusRo's successful conquest of the Galaxy on December the 12th.
