Islamic New Year
Mood:  happy
Topic: My Thoughts
Actually, the New Year was on January 31, Tuesday, however the Kuwait government moved the holiday to Saturday to lengthen the weekend days, moreover new year is not really a big holiday in Islam. We had no work, hence we stayed inside the house for the whole day and sleep soundly!

Islamic New Year (First day of Muharram, 1st month)
The new year day of Hijrah reminds Muslims the Hijrah (migration) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Makkah to Madinah in the year 622 C.E. It is well-known that the Hijrah did not take place on the first day of Muharram, it probably occured in the month of Rabu'ul Awwal (3rd month). Also the Hijri calendar was instituted some time in the reign of Caliph 'Umar (634-644 C.E.). However, dut to the associaton of Islamic calendar with Hijrah, new year day becomes an importat day to remember the meaning and significance of Hijrah.

In modern times, some Muslims also began using it to send greeting cards and celebrate new year. There are, however, no religious services associated with this day.

Eid Al-Adha 2006
Mood:  happy
January 10, 2006
It's Eid al Adha Holiday so it was our day off from work for 3 days, WOW! We went to Qurtoba Park, packed some foods and made chicken barbeques there. The only problem was that it was really cold, but we still enjoyed our time....take a look at baby azhfaar's pics.
Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice is the most important feast of the Muslim calendar. It concludes the Pilgrimage to Mecca. Eid al-Adha lasts for three days and commemorates Ibraham's (Abraham) willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son. Muslims believe the son to be Ishmael rather than Isaac as told in the Old Testament. Ishmael is considered the forefather of the Arabs. According to the Koran, Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son when a voice from heaven stopped him and allowed him to sacrifice a ram instead.

The feast re-enacts Ibrahim's obedience by sacrificing a cow or ram. The family eats about a third of the meal and donates the rest to the poor.

Kuwait Again!
Topic: What's Up
We arrived in Kuwait on Saturday Dec. 17, 2005 since we stayed in Manila for 2 days. Very stressful but thanks Allah for the safe journey, our little Azhfaar didn't got sick while on our way, he's very energetic and seems that he was not tired from our long trip.

By the way, we spent one night in Qatar and fortunately I did able to meet my sis-cousin Suh, she went to the Hotel that we stayed in and we had a nice chat that night.

I need to go to work but I was very tired, so I stayed at home for the whole day to prepare my self for the coming load of works in the next day!

Departure Day...
Mood:  sad
Topic: Vacation
My Parents, siblings, in-laws and some of our relatives accompanied us to the airport for our departure...I felt that our parents were all sad not for us generally but for our baby Azhfaar, they were really fond of him especially my mother since Azhfaar is her first grandchild. She cried so much by the time we left, moreover, my sister Jong was with us also. It was really painful to me seeing my Ommie crying for my child, but part of me feels happy knowing that she loves him so much.

Salo Salo Together!
Topic: Vacation
In the afternoon, my mother-in-law prepared a light snack for the family and relatives since we are going to leave few days only, we are leaving for Kuwait on Wednesday December 14, so only few days left to be with them. At night, my Ommie also prepared some dinner for our family and relatives to have a time eating with them before our departure. To be frank, I don't want to leave. Leaving my family and relatives for how many years is really difficult, but I have to go with my hubby since I knew that he really wants us (me and our son) to be with him always, I can feel it in my heart. I think, even you guys will do the same for the sake of your beloved one.
