The Unreal editor and map making

  • Getting the save/load option to work in Unreal Tournament (I got this from EZkeel)-
You need to find a file called UnrealTournament.ini (NOT int). This file tells the game how
it should be set up when it starts up. The file is located in your UnrealTournament/System
folder. Remember that if you are unsure, you can always put a copy of this file into
another folder if you want to put things back as they were. Double click the file and you
will see it open up in notepad. From the menu bar in notepad click on “search” and a
small box will appear asking you to type something. Type in the word "save” and click
"find next". Notepad will take you to the first place in the file it sees the word and
highlight it. You probably don’t want the first one so click on “find next” again. You
should now see a line called “Savepath=..\save” This is the line you need to change. It
needs to be the same as wherever your save path actually is in Unreal Tournament. For
most of you, you will need to replace that line with this:
    SavePath=C:\UnrealTournament\Save

If Unreal tournament is in your D drive under a Folder called games you should put:
D:\Games\UnrealTournament\Save. Get the idea? Now go to "File" and "save" it.

  • Single player maps for Unreal tournament-
You can make and play single player maps for Unreal tournament. To set a map to be
single player, open it, go to view/actor class browser/info/gameinfo/unreal game info
and select VRikersGame or SinglePlayer. VRikersGame is single player where you start
out with 12 health instead of 100, have no weapons, and start out looking towards the
sky. Next, go to view/level/properties/levelinfo/defaultgametype and click on use.
This should put your selection in the blank. If you can remember the exact name, you
can simply type the gametype or whatever in the space. If you leave gametype blank,
it will default to deathmatch. The reason you can do all this is because all the old
Unreal stuff comes with Unreal tournament, except the level and music files.

  • Custom Music, Sound Effects, and the mod player
It is simple and easy to add custom music and sound to your levels. If you want a program
to play unreal music files without having to open the editor or be able to listen to each
mode of each track, go and download this player. After you get a track you
like, put it in your music folder, open your level, go to music and import it. For sound
effects, Import all the sounds into the same new package, after that, save it. Remember
including all the necessary package(s) with your level when you distribute it.
