CHAPTER 4
Sarah laid back on her bed and closed her eyes.
She should have been glad that highschool was over. She should have been glad. But the truth was that every time she closed her eyes she saw Lance's face. She had given up her one opportunity at being loved by someone that she loved.
"Sarah!" her mother called. "There's someone here to see you!" Sarah got up and didn't bother fixing her hair. She slumped down the stairs and stopped in front of the doorway. And she stared.
Lance was casually standing on the porch holding a bouquet of Lily of the Valley, her favorite flower.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, closing the door behind her. He smiled, revealing his perfect white teeth.
"I'm sorry about the way I left things that night," he said sweetly. He handed her the flowers. "I just wanted to apologize."
"You came here all the way from Florida to apologize?" she asked incredulously, trying to fix her hair. He frowned.
"Yeah."
Sarah smiled.
"Thanks."
Lance smiled.
"All I get is a 'thanks'?" he asked, holding out his arms. Sarah walked into his embrace. She leaned up on her tip toes and pressed her lips over his. She pulled away slowly.
"Thank you Lance."
Lance brushed the hair away from her face.
"Will you have dinner with me?"
"I think you know what my answer is," she whispered, as she drew his lips down to hers.
