Sauce:
Brown pork chops. Mix other ingredients and pour on pork chops. Cook in oven at 350°for 1 hour.
Melt butter in frying pan and brown pork chops. Add onions and brown them. Remove from heat. Season pork chops. Mix other ingredients. Place pork chops in a casserole dish, add onions and sauce. Bake at 400° for 1 hour.
Cantonese Pork
Mix pork with sugar and soy sauce. Let stand 10 minutes. Dip in egg, then in cornstarch (reserving 2 tablespoons for sauce). Let stand until cornstarch is absorbed. Deep fry at 360°F for 10 minutes. Serve with sweet-and-sour sauce.
Meatball Stew
Mix ground pork, salt, ginger and cloves. Form meatballs. Brown meatballs in butter. Add water and simmer. Mix flour with a bit of cold water and add to sauce to thicken.
Add soy sauce and cook 5 minutes longer, stirring until sauce thickens.
