Well, here we have the new band of former pantera members, Dimebag and Vinnie. Upon first listen, you'll hear Dimebag's trademark riffage. Like someone said before, this is NOT Pantera, but the resemblance is there and comparisons are inevitable. I'm not going to go too indepth with this review. But my shallow review is undoubtly justified, because this is a pretty shallow album. I havn't listened to Pantera since Reinventing the Steel was released. Soon after I discovered more types of metal that actually sounded and played better. However, I remain a fan of Pantera, and Pantera this is not.

I'll make this simple.

Pros: The vocals are good! Probably the best thing about this band. This is your basic straight forward metal, no ifs or buts about it.

Cons: The album lacks energy. The songs seems to be missing something. While the brutal riffing of Dimebag is apparent, he just doesnt shred anymore like the days from CFH. I miss that. Therefore the songs bore me. There are just no songs here that warrant repeated listenings. Like i said, straight forward metal, nothing new and nothing original.

If your a fan of Dimebag or Pantera you'll probably enjoy this cd, but there have been better recent metal releases.... if you want something more check out: Children of Bodom's "Hate Crew Deathroll", Iced Earth's "The Glorious Burden", or Shadows Fall "The Art of Balance". One listen to any one of these and you'll be saying, "Dimebag who??". -Lord Deus
