Review: Aeris Debut
Reviewer: Lord Kishin
Last night Aeris debuted and to the entire shock of the crowd they open with a classical composition of the Aeris theme?!?! I said bad ass, but unfortunately a few dicks didnt like it. One guy yelled out loud, "These guys suck!", and some girls said, "This is an insult!" BUT!!! when they put down the classicals and picked up the electrics, all hell broke loose. Unfortunately for Aeris, but not uncommon of the sound guys the guitars and especially the vocals werent set right so we missed a good part of the untitled song and the cover of Crownless by Nightwish. Toward the end of Crownless they about had everything corrected and everyone had a state of shock written across their faces. DAMN DUDE THESE GUYS JAM!!!!
If you weren't impressed by then, Justin aka "FuZaVuE" demonstrated his supreme guitarmanship. His shredding continued all the way up to the next song, Tragic Prince. Now if you know Castlevania, then you sure know Tragic Prince, and they nailed it!! By this time many of the former insultors were jaw dropped and drowning in jealousy.
After this title came a second chance at redemption for the vocalist Zero Love. Angel of War and Mirror of Dreams! Now if you had downloaded these tracks off the internet you had a small taste of what was to become of these titles. The complete versions were astonishing! Beautiful lyrics completed by wonderful guitar. They impressed the crowd with their style of playing like no one has ever done before in Victoria. You could see and feel the connection between FuZaVuE and Issac as they played as one through the songs. For a band without a drummer and without a bassist their sound was incredible. The sit in drummer/bassist/keyboardist was none other than "Mr. Casio".
After their songs ended Issac stepped up to the plate. It was time for his solo. In honor of Jason Becker he was to play Serrana, and superb solo act by Becker. It started off kind of slow, and then before you knew it Issac was speeding up and down the neck of the guitar at light speed! The crowd was in awe. no one moved and no one blinked staring at the fingers of Issac's hand. After he finished the solo a short moment of silence followed by a roar of the crowd emerged as people recovered from the shock of the complexity of the solo. A puddle of drool was slowly forming in the room.
Finally great things must end sooner or later so they played the greatest cover of all, FantasMic by Nightwish. I must say they played this title flawlessly. One person after the show said that it was like listening to Nightwish's album version. But I feel it was better, and a few others agree. Zero Love's performance was enchanting and precise. She owned the entire song. During the solo part FuZaVuE and Issac performed the solo as Emppu Vuorinen would have. If you are familiar of him you would know what I'm talking about. After they finished the song several people stormed the stage to congratulate them. It was truely a great debut.
