Pain Of Salvation is a very well recieved Prog band from Sweden. While you have numerous Dream Theater clones within the Prog genre, PoS have reinvented the genre(if that is possible) with its use of raw emotion and artistic musical nature. PoS isn't a band about fast guitar picking and mind blowing guitar solos, they rather focus on music as an artform. Making sure each musical structure fits each lyric which in turn fits each note. The outcome is a surreal trip with a mixture of prog elements and metal influences. The vocalist often times reminds me of Faith No More, however he can reach some pretty high notes, growl, and hold a melody quite well that often times leaves you in awe of the fact that there isn't more than one vocalist. If you decide to listen to these guys, you must hear the whole album! Whether its The Perfect Element or One Hour By The Concrete Lake. After hearing the album staright through, the feeling is very rewarding! Your not left feeling cheated, nor wanting more... somehow you feel a sense of completeness. Thats the wonder of this band... some songs may make you cry even. The emotion and heart put into these songs sends you into a trance... an endless onslought of genuine feelings. One can't help but to be touched.
