Iced Earth originated from Florida in 1984 under the name Purgatory. After the name change in 1990 Iced Earth released thier first album. In 1991 Iced Earth released thier second album entitled "Night of the Stormrider." This time with vocalist John Greely. This album proved fatal for Iced Earth, for shortly afterwards, the called it quits.
However, Iced Earth would be revived in 1995 with Matthew Barlow as vocals and the release of "Burnt Offerings." From then on is history.
Iced Earth's sound is pure metal. Seemingly more related to thrash metal, Iced Earth takes advantage of superb guitar play, nice vocals, and conceptual lyrics to create the unique sound that hopefully will stand tall for many more albums to come!
