Children of Bodom are originally from Espoo, Finland. The band formed under the name Inearthed in 1993. Inearthed, at the time was a melodic death metal band. Quite different from what Children of Bodom is today. Inearthed had planned to release its first CD, "Something Wild", through a small publishing company, but instead got offered a better contract through Spinefarm. During the switch, Inearthed changed its name to the band we all know and love, Children of Bodom.

After "Something Wild" was released, CoB got another contract under Nuclear Blasts Records. They soon released their very successful record, "Hatebreeder". Soon after, the much anticipated CD, "Follow The Reaper" was released and became their best CD to date according to most fans.

Children of Bodom's sound is very unique. While at first glance, they seem like any other Black Metal band. But thats far from the truth. Mixing classical elements with power metal riffs and brutal black metal vocals makes for a very very pleasant listening!! Death/Black metal fans alike can easily pick this one up! For power metal fans, its a very good transition band if your looking to take a dip into the black metal underworld. Take my word for it, Children of Bodom is plain out awesome!
