Part of the second generation X-Men team, Thunderbird never meshed very well. He gave Cyclops more grief and took orders even less well than Wolverine. Worse was that he was constantly comparing himself to his teammates and feeling he was falling short.

Thunderbird has the dubious honor of being the first X-Man to fall in the line of duty - he met his end fighting Count Nefaria, dying when Nefaria's plane exploded.
