Review
George Lazenby's one and only shot at 007. A minor footnote in the history of Bond, Lazenby had the misfortune of making his debut in one of the most emotionally involving Bond films ever. This film deals with the courtship, marriage and loss of Bond's wife Tracy. To hardcore Bond fans, this remains one of their favorite films, but if you are a casual fan, you'll probably find sitting through this 2 hour 20 minute film a bore-a-thon. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with less than a hard interest in the Bond series. Lazenby is just o.k. as Bond. His one liners are his downfall. Lazenby can't do light comedy, but he is quite affective in his romance scenes with Rigg. Rigg sparkles as a tough, independent, wild spirited daddy's girl. The direction is slow and plodding, and in particular the direction of the action sequences. They zip back and forth, in and out, and it's hard to tell what's going on. My grade: D-
