4-LOM
is one of the bounty hunters gathered by Darth Vader to find
and capture the Millennium Falcon. As a humorous in-joke, this
bounty hunter's name is an acronym that cleverly describes his
profession, "For Love of Money".
This kit started out as a second-hand, partially built
C-3PO kit. Some parts were broken and some pieces were
missing altogether. Since it couldn't be built as C-3PO, why not
build the bounty hunter that looked like he had the same body?

The
head was entirely scratchbuilt by making the shape out of clay.
The details were added by chopping bits of sprue from another
model and carving the details with Dremel attachments.
My brother Stephen mixed up some rubber compound and made a mold of the head. He then used auto body fiberglass to cast the
finished piece.
I made the bug- like chest by applying multiple layers of putty.
I then sanded the carapace pattern in with small needle files
and 400 grit sandpaper.
The blaster rifle was made from model sprue and a few chopped up
G.I. Joe guns.

The
base coat was spray painted gold. It was then heavily dry brushed
using Euro I Gray.
The insect-guts-like waist area was made by applying lots of
thick superglue over the 3PO wires that were there, and then
using a Dremel tool to carve a new pattern into it. The waist
was then painted Chrome Silver.
