Computer Programmer

Requirement of Education for the Job:

Most Computer programmers are college graduates who excel in computer sciences. It is compulsory for them to have a bachelor's degree in computer programming, science, engineering, dataprocessing or physical sciences. A computer programmer is also required to have a graduate degree for enriched applications. It is nice to have taken business courses in accounting to help out for inventory purposes. It is also necessary to be experienced in writing detailed instuctions.

While in highschool students must take the following courses to prepare themselves for the career ahead of time so that they could have high understanding in College. They should take:

• English
• Math
• Computer Science
• Business, marketing or commerce

Universities, Institutes or Colleges:

Characteristics in a Computer Programmer:

• Must have good communication skills both oral and written.
• Must be organized and have good analyical skills
• Ability to pay attention to little details in order to avoid time consuming details
• Capability to focus for a long time
• Must be logical and hard working
• Not lazy and should be able to meet deadlines and due dates
• Capability to work and get a long with other people
• Willingness to work well under pressure and a lot of tension
• Must be very patient while debugging programs
• since the programs can take days to get fixed.
• Must be self-confident and be a critical thinker
• Must be self disciplined
• Should have good problem-solving skills

In conclusion, a computer programmer must be a confident, hard worker who believes in his/her ability to solve problems and is willing to work with others.

Duties of a Computer Programmer are:

• to create programs or software packages by writing instructions into languages such as BASIC, COBOL, C++ and FORTRAN that the computer comprehends.
• after the program has been created, test it to find errors and remove them. It is also known as debugging.
• also their responsibility to determine if the programs meets the expectations of the client.
• to up-grade existing programs, in other words make them better by adding new functions and making it more efficient.
• work with others to create more softwares for a application such as graphics.
• solve any problems experience by the clients/user while the program was operating.
• document programs, in other words write in English to explain what the program does and how it does it.

In conclusion, a computer programmer writes, upgrades and makes minor ajustments to existing application by making them better.

Salary of a Computer Programmer:

The salaries for computer programmersmost likely depend on the how well educated and experienced one really is. It also really depends on the employer and the location. In general, the salaries range approximately from $32,000 to $45,000 per year.
