Kevin woke up from the persistent knocking on the door.
"Who the hell would be here at 3 am?" He groaned, seeing the red glowing numbers on his clock. He swung his legs over the side of his bed and stretched. He rubbed his eyes and then grabbed his navy robe from the chair. He walked downstairs and opened the door.
"Jade? What are you doing here?" Kevin asked, seeing his best friend standing there.
"I didn't know where else to go." She whispered, tears obvious in her voice. Kevin took her into a loving hug, holding her close. They stood there for moments before Jade's breathing settled a bit.
"Why don't you come in and tell me all about it." Kevin spoke softly with sincerity, and Jade nodded against his chest. The two walked into the living room and sat down on the coach.
"Kevin, why do I put up with him?" Jade asked, upruptly, looking into Kevin's face for the first time that night. That was when Kevin noticed it. A bruise on Jade's normally rosy cheek.
"Did Chris do this?" Kevin questioned quite shocked tenderly ran his fingers over the purple spot.
Jade nodded, causing Kevin's finger tips come in contact with tears as well.
"Jade, this isn't the first time this is has happened, is it." Kevin said, although he knew the response.
Jade shook her head.
"Has he done anything else to you?"
"Cheated on me, yelled at me. Plus the abuse." Jade whispered.
"Why didn't you come to me sooner? I would have helped you."
"He threaten to kill me if I told anyone." She replied, obviously upset.

Looking up into Kevin's caring face, Jade saw a look in his eyes that she had never seen before. A look of love that was meant for her and and only for her.
"Kevin..." Jade whispered.
"Yes Jade?" Kevin asked compassionately.
"Kiss me." She told him.
"Excuse me?" Kevin questioned, unsure that he had heard her correctly.
"Please. Just kiss me." Jade pleaded. Kevin hated to see her so upset, so he obliged. Softly, he leaned down and placed his lips over hers.
"Like that?" Kevin said, pulling away.
"No. A real kiss. Kevin. I haven't been kissed, and I mean really kissed in over 6 months. And I never have had a guy love me passionately. Please. Can you do all that for me?" Jade asked. Kevin looked into her brown eyes and knew that there was no way he was going to say no.
"Of course. Let me please you the way you need to be loved." Kevin whispered, leaning her down backwards on the couch. He kissed her again, wanting to be rough with her, but the bruise on her cheek reminded him. He slowly slid the oversized tee-shirt off Jade's body, only to reveal bruises on her sides. Kevin slowly unclipped her bra and threw it off to the side.
"Very nice." Kevin whispered watching her through the soft moonlight that streamed through a window.
