  • edited by Keith Poole
  • published by The Torquay Pottery Collector's Society, Torre Abby, Torquay, Devon, England, 1996
  • hardcover, about 8 ½ by 12 inches, 212 pages
  • from the preface..........."Torquay Pottery as we call it within our Society should more correctly be referred to as South Devon Pottery. The various potteries that produced the wonderful hand made items that we collect today were mostly on the northern edges of Torquay and did in fact start at St. Marychurch, HeleCross and Aller Vale. Pottery production was later to spread into smaller potteries in the surrounding countryside, whilst other contemporary potteries were in operation at Bovey Tracey, Eseter and elsewhere in Devon................."
  • from the back cover........"Over thirty TPCS members have contributed to this Society commemorative book to share their love and knowledge of the pottery for the benefit of all. Here you will find many illustrations of fine pottery, articles on the main potteries, plus artists, designers, decorators, turner, throwers, details of pottery workers, old pottery skills and methods, all the pottery marks, patterns and styles. The Society is confident that the reader will discover within much of interest and pleasure as well as finding this book useful as a work of reference."
  • approximately forty seven separate articles and numerous colour photographs as well as black and white illustrations, a section on marks and a glossary
