96 pages, 16 pages of colour, 130 black and white illustrations, hardcover with dustjacket, 1999

From the dustjacket:    ".....a personal reflection by the renowned potter, Walter Moorcroft, on a life spanning eight decades. He writes of his childhood in rural Staffordshire, giving a glimpse of a vanished world of charabancs and trams, governesses and ‘afternoon tea' -- and describes his time as a schoolboy, his life in pre-waar England, and his experiences as an intelligence officer during the war.
.............on his return from the war, he inherited the factory from his famous father, William. In 1945 he became, as he puts it, ‘the managing director, works manager, personnel manager and art director' of W. Moorcroft Ltd. As his father before him, Walter became a highly respected art potter whose tenacious commitment to the factory secured its survival. For over forty years, while other small potteries were forced into closure or takeover, Walter kept the Pottery going, enjoying its triumphs and successes, surviving the hard times and, in the eighties and nineties, witnessing a revival in Moorcroft's popularity and fortunes. Although officially retired, he continues as a consultant to the company.
........a richly illustrated volume including many colour plates of the author's designs to which are added his personal view and comments..................."
