Sleep Little One

Kyle Ethan Paulson

Sleep Little One

Sleep little one, close your eyes.
Don't be scared, when the angels carry you to the skies.
No more tears little one, no more cries.
In gods arms you will rest.
God took you back to him, cause he only takes the best.
Sleep little Kyle, from my eyes you are gone.
Yet in my heart I know you are where you belong.
In Gods arms you will sway.
Around you the other angels will play.
Sleep little one, don't shed a tear.
There is nothing in heaven that you should fear.
In my arms I will hold you once again.
Your journey my little Kyle has only began.

In Memory of Kyle
Love His Mommy, Kayleigh

Now I Lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I awake
I pray the Lord my soul to take!

Kyle Ethan was born on January 17th, 2000. He was a big baby weighing 9 lbs and 8 ounces. He looked very much like his mommy with big blue eyes and blond locks of hair. Kyle's middle name was after his grandfather who passed a few days before Kyle's birth. Kyle was a good baby boy. He always slept the whole night through and bearly ever cried. He had a stuffed teddy that he loved very much and we always kept in the crib with him. Kyle was loved very much.

One night we laid our little boy down to sleep. He was a month and a few days old. We never thought a monster called SIDS would take our baby that night. We turned on his tiny music box and kissed him goodnight, never to see our baby alive again. When we went to awake him in the morning he would not wake. We have heard of other babies dying of SIDS but no mother nor father believes it would ever happen to them. Yet it did happen to us, and there was no way of stopping it. Our precious son was taken from us to sleep forever.

WHAT IS SIDS?

SIDS also known as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Crib Death refers to the sudden or unexpected death of a apparently healthy infant, whose death remains unexplained even after a complete autopsy and investigation.

There is no possible way to stop SIDS from happening in your family, cause the case of it is unknown. It can happen to anyone anyday. But there are three ways to reduce the risks.

Put your baby on the back to sleep.
The risk of SIDS is increased if babies sleep on their tummies. The best position for babies to sleep in is on their backs. Research shows that healthy babies placed to sleep on their backs are no more likely to regurgitate their feed and choke on vomit. If you choose to sleep your baby on the side, make sure that his or her lower arm is well forward to stop rolling onto the tummy. The side position is unsafe for babies if they roll onto their tummies during sleep. However, if your baby has certain medical or other conditions, side or tummy sleeping may have been recommended by your doctor or nurse. Make sure your baby's head remains uncovered during sleep. If a baby's head becomes covered during sleep the risk of SIDS is increased. Loose bedding can cover your baby's head. Tuck your baby in securely so that he or she can't slip under the bedclothes Quilts, doonas, duvets, pillows, soft toys and cot bumpers should not be placed where your baby sleeps during the first year.

Keep your baby smokefree, before birth and after.
The risk of SIDS is increased if the mother smokes during pregnancy. There is also some evidence to suggest that if fathers smoke while the mother is pregnant the risk of SIDS is increased. In fact, if both parents smoke then the risk is doubled. It is best for both parents not to smoke at all, but the less you smoke, the lower the risk of SIDS. Babies exposed to tobacco smoke after birth are at an increased risk of SIDS. To keep baby smokefree, don't let anyone smoke near your baby - not in the house, the car or anywhere else your baby spends time. It is often hard to quit smoking so ask for help.

Please mothers and fathers keep these in mind, it might save the life of your little one.
