Girl: "Grant O Lord, we pray Thee....."
Voice: Yes?
Girl: Don't interrupt me. I'm praying.
Voice: But you called me.
Girl: Called you? I didn't call you, I'm praying.
"Grant O Lord, we pray Thee."
Voice: There, you did it again.
Girl: Did what?
Voice: Called me; you said "Grant O Lord, we pray Thee." Here I am. What's on your mind.
Girl: I didn't mean anything by it. I was, you know, just saying my prayers.
Voice: All right, go on.
Girl: "that Thy blessing may rest upon us and all other Guides."
Voice: All other Guides? What about Jane?
Girl: What about Jane?
Voice: You were not asking me to bless her the other night when she became Patrol Leader instead of you.
Girl: But....I thought I would have made a better Patrol Leader.
Voice: You were jealous. Do you think that was right?
Girl: Well, I guess not.
Voice: Go on.
Girl: "Help us with Thy grace to serve our country...."
Voice: Hold it!
Girl: What?
Voice: Were you serving your country yesterday when you threw your lunch bag on the road?
Girl: No, but everyone leaves garbage on the sides of the roads.
Voice: Does that make it right?
Girl: No, next time I'll put mine in the garbage can.
Voice: Good, now we're getting somewhere.
Girl: "and to keep our Guide Promise and Law."
Voice: What is your Guide Promise?
Girl: It's ..... I mean..... it starts, "I promise on my......" I forget.
Voice: At least you're honest. Continue with your prayer. (Pause) Well, go on.
Girl: I'm scared to.
Voice: Scared? Of what?
Girl: I know what you will say.
Voice: Try me and see!
Girl: "Make us both humble and friendly, eager for adventure, alert and prepared for service."
Voice: What about the new girl at school?
Girl: See, I knew it! I knew you would bring her up. But...she's different; she's from another country.
Voice: She has feelings too, just like you! What if you moved to another country; would you want to be treated like that?
Girl: Of course not! Starting tomorrow, I'm going to make her feel welcome and help her to make friends.
Voice: Good, we'll work together, you and I; some victories can truly be won.
Girl: "Give us courage to do right, make us both strong to fight and steadfast to endure,"
Girl: What do you mean?
Voice: What about last week when Mrs. Brown asked who threw the piece of paper and you kept quiet, causing the whole company to miss the outing?
Girl: Yes, I should have had the courage to tell Mrs. Brown that I threw the paper. I'm going to explain it to her!
Voice: Go ahead and finish your prayer.
Girl: "and may our lives be filled with the joy that spreads happiness everywhere. Amen."
Voice: Do you know what would really make me happy?
Girl: No, but I'd like to know. I want to please you. I can see what a mess I've made of my life. And I can see how cool it would be to really be one of your followers.
Voice: You just answered the question.
Girl: I did?
Voice: Yes, what would really make me happy is to have people like you truly love me, and I see that happening between us. Now that some of those old sins are exposed and out of the way, there's no telling what we can do together.
Girl: Lord, let's see what you can make of me....OK?
Voice: Yes, Let's see........
