The green that encompassed the warm summer days now
changes to bright ambers, reds, oranges and
golds. The colors are so stark and beautiful.
I etch them in my mind so that I can hold onto them
when they are gone.

I love you. I miss you. The days seem like months
without you. You are constantly in my thoughts.
I am aching inside and yet at the same time, any
thought of you wraps my heart with warmth.
Just as the beautiful leaves fall to the ground and
wrap the earth.

Wanting not for the leaves to fall, yet knowing that
this change brings about the beautiful whiteness
of winter that cleans and freshens the earth, and
allows for new growth the following spring.

I let go because I love you and look forward to the Spring.
