KICKER SUBS

The innovative square technology of KICKER's Solo-Baric L7 Subwoofer increases output enough to give it the power handling of the next size larger speaker from 1999's Solo-Baric "d" series. This advance in performance is primarily due to three factors, each of which results in an increase in the amount of air the subwoofer can move. By making the Solo-Baric square, cone area for a given size baffle is 16% to 20% greater than typical round cones. Increasing the Xmax - the distance the cone can move in one direction - is another way to make a speaker move more air; new ultra-length round wire voice coils and hyper-extended poles give the Solo-Baric L7 24% to 49% more Xmax the previous models. The gains in Vmax greatly increase the amount of air that the speaker can move. Power handling has also been increased to the capacity of the next larger driver in previous models. The L7's square cone design results in 20% more cone area than last year's round Solo-Baric S10d. Xmax is 49% greater than last year's model. Using these figures in the Vmax formula, the S10L7's Vmax is a 78% greater than the S10d. Power handling is now 600 watts, 150 watts more than the previous model. Making the same comparison between the 10-inch Solo-Baric S10L7 and last year's 12-inch Solo-Baric S12d, the advantages of square subwoofer technology allow the S10L7 to move 20% more air than last year's 12-inch model with the same power handling capacity. It's like buying one size and getting the next size bigger in the same size box. While not as dramatic, similar comparisons may be made with all models in the line. Power ratings range from 450 watts for the 8-inch S8L7 to 1000 watts for the 15-inch S15L7. All models have dual voice coils for the ultimate in wiring flexibility - 2-Ohm DVC models give you the option of running the sub at 1 or 4 Ohms, 4-Ohm DVC models allow 2-Ohm or 8-Ohm operation.
