NBC says that 'Titans' has gasped its last
NBC's "Titans" has fallen to low ratings. The network has declined to order more
episodes of the nighttime serial, effectively canceling it. Two of the four remaining
episodes have scheduled air dates, Monday and Dec. 18 (8 p.m, KING-TV), officials said
Wednesday. Producer Aaron Spelling was told of the decision Tuesday after
"Titans" failed to capitalize on its move to Monday night from Wednesday. An
average 8 million viewers had watched the show on Wednesday, a lackluster performance that
put it behind "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and "Bette." The Monday
audience for "Titans" shrank to about 6.6 million viewers. The series, which
starred Casper Van Dien, Yasmine Bleeth and Perry King, was an attempt to revive the
serial genre that was a hit for Spelling ("Dynasty") in the 1980s. (Source:

NBC cancels 'Titans,' has eye on 'Richards'
NBC is canceling Titans, Aaron Spelling's Dynasty-style prime-time soap,
after a time slot change this week failed to produce more viewers. The show has averaged 8
million viewers on Wednesdays and drew 6.6 million on Monday. A few more original episodes
will air through late December. Next to go: The Michael Richards Show, a critical
and ratings disaster, which is expected to get the ax this week. That will mark the fourth
of seven new NBC shows to fail. (Source: USA Today)
Titans cut from NBC lineup
Titans fans should sit down before reading any further: The Aaron Spelling primetime soap
has been canceled by NBC, according to Reuters. The show has been struggling in the
ratings since its debut this fall, failing to garner a significant audience in its 8 to
9 p.m. ET Wednesday time slot. The hourlong drama shifted to Monday nights starting
this past week but remained unable to attract enough viewers to supply it with a ranking
higher than fifth place for its time slot that night. NBC executives informed Spelling on
Tuesday that they would not order more episodes of the series past the 13 they had
initially purchased for the season. At press time the Peacock Network had already aired
nine installments of the sudser and plans to air the remaining four over the next few
weeks. (Source: Gist TV)
NBC sinks Titans
Variety reports that NBC has elected not to order a full season of its splashy prime-time
sudser Titans, effectively ending the series run. Four episodes of the shows
initial 13-episode order have yet to air, but will be broadcast in the weeks to come. The
show, which had been struggling in its original Wednesday timeslot, was recently moved to
Monday nights. The switch failed to improve the shows numbers, prompting NBCs
decision not to produce more installments of the drama. (Source: SOD)
Penthouse Will Offer a Roomy Lair for This
Titan
John Barrowman, who plays the nefarious son Peter Williams in Aaron Spelling's new NBC
drama series "Titans," has purchased a West Hollywood penthouse for just under
$400,000. Barrowman, 32, owns two houses in London. Before "Titans," Barrowman
was best known to American TV audiences for his portrayal of Peter Fairchild in the series
"Central Park West." The lyric baritone appeared on Broadway with Carol Burnett
and Kathie Lee Gifford in Stephen Sondheim's "Putting It Together," and made his
Broadway debut as Joe Gillis in "Sunset Boulevard," opposite Betty Buckley.
Barrowman was born in Scotland but moved to Illinois when he was 8. He relocated to
England as a young adult to study theater and soon co-starred there in the revival of
"Anything Goes." He played the Beast in Disney's "Beauty and the
Beast" and Raoul in "The Phantom of the Opera." His penthouse has a loft,
living room with 18-foot ceilings and city views. The building has a pool, sauna and spa.
Carl Williams of Coldwell Banker, Sunset, represented both sides of the transaction.
Titans moves to Monday nights
NBC will move its Aaron Spelling soap opera "Titans" to Monday at 8 from
Wednesday at 8. "Young women watch television on Monday more than any other night of
the week," said Ancier. "And with the other networks going into repeats in
December, we think the Monday 8-9 p.m. hour provides a great opportunity for 'Titans' to
continue to grow and eventually flourish." (Source: CBS MarketWatch)
