Sally Polk - Cast Bronze

Cast Bronze on wooden plaque, "Sleeping Hounds"

Sally Polk is a very "unique" individual. During her busy lifetime, which has included raising 5 children and being grandmother to 14 grandchildren, she has managed to accomplish some amazing things. Not that being a mother and grandmother is diminished in any way, but her athletic achievements are ones for the record books. She has competed in Masters Track and Field events in the Shotput, Discus, Javelin, Hammer, WT Pentathelon, and Swimming. Her competition has taken her to Myisaki, Japan - Melbourne, Austrailia - Edmonton, Canada - San Juan, Puerto Rico - Trinidad and Tobago where she has won gold and silver medals. She has forged many lasting friendships with other athletes from all over the globe.

Sally also has a love for animals which led her to breed Arabian horses, which she has been doing since 1959 and Irish Wolfhounds since 1963. In 1970 the art bug bit her and she started making pottery. In 1972 she moved on into the most difficult art work of sculpting. Athletes and Animals of course were her greatest loves and they became the subjects of her bronze sculptures. Sally is going strong with her horses and dogs and still loves her bronze sculpting.

Sally has a very rewarding full life populated by good friends, wonderful art, and her animals. Ms. Polk commands her universe from the "Enchantment Arabians Horse Ranch" just outside of Mountainair, NM, where she "seizes" life in its fullest. You can often find her zipping about town either on her way to or from high school athletic events in which she has a vested interest. She volunteers her time and experience to coach the throwers. This zest for life and living is reflected in her art.
