Abram Garcia - Woven wire sculpture

Description:
Abram Garcia is of Mexican Indian and Spanish heritage. He moved to the Mountainair, New Mexico area many years ago and still resides here. His unique woven wire sculptures feature Southwest desert scorpions poised upon native weathered tree boles and exposed ancient Juniper and Cedar roots. Mr.Garcia treks out into the high desert to locate just the right weathered wood pieces and then creates his Arachnid subjects from plain copper wires of varied gauges by weaving, bending and twisting the lifeless strands into a fastinating form that almost seems alive perched on a piece of their natural environment. Mr. Garcia joins two elements that are usually not found in combination to create fascinating art pieces.
