Roger Dakotah - Multi media, Native American Themes
Description:
Roger Dakotah, of Osage heritage, is truly a multi-talented artist who works with sheet steel, oils, acrylics, fabric painting, metallic design, positive and negative images, as well as doing prints and all occasion cards. He portrays life and living through the culture of Native Americans. It is difficult to typify any of Roger's work due to the outstanding quality of it all and the variety of the media that he works with. Roger has produced works four feet by five feet out of thick sheet steel and miniatures as small as one and one half inches by two inches and everything in between. They all maintain the highest quality and attention to detail that earmark his work.
Some of Roger's works have a primitive quality to them but upon closer examination, show meticulous detail and complexity with artistic sophistication. His use of vibrant colors and subject matter reveal much depth and understanding of the Native American culture that he so keenly portrays. Mr. Dakotah is the epitome of a "non typical" multi-media artist who uses unsophisticated materials and subject matter to produce captivating pieces of art.
