Class Description:
This is designed for a 4th to 5th grade levels.
Objectives:
Introduce the rap by singing and clapping to the class.
Role of Teacher:
First as a facilitator of discovery, second as an information giver and collector.
Procedure:
Some students may have a fear of signing because of tone deafness, allow them to sign off key, we are looking to see if they can say the words in order, not if they are the next Jane Siberry!
Closure:
After we have completed the activity, have the students add to the KWL
chart what they have learned today. See if their first predictions are
still viable or if they need to be revised.
Evaluation:
The students will be able to sing the words found in the Mars Rap. We are checking for the right words to give the song a meaningful context.
Extension Activities:
The students who finish before the allotted time is over may help the
students who have yet been able to master the words to the song.

Mars is the red planet (X4)
..
Mars is half the size of the Earth.
But that does
not take away from it wonders
It’s the red planet
(X2)
Mars has craters, dry rivers
And frozen water
Frozen water under the ground
And rocks too
There rust, rust everywhere
Mars has two moons
Phobos and Demos
Demos and Phobos
Phobos and Demos
What is that I see
Could that be a volcano I see
Its alive!
