Working with LEP students with literacy

Many classrooms today lack the resource diversity to reach out to students who use languages other than English as their main language.  Therefor, it is recommended that your classroom have books written for ALL of the populations of your classroom.  I am from a mainly Spanish community, so I use both English and Spanish in my instruction and library.  Why?  To ensure that all of my students have an equal access to great literature and instruction.  English is the main medium for instruction, but Spanish is used when misunderstandings may arise.
