Drop Everything And READ!
This approach stresses the importance of reading for enjoyment. Students are taught to put away all other work, stop talking, and bring out their books to read. In lower grades this means bringing out picture books with short dialogues, fun informative books, and short chapter books. In grades above three, chapter books, children's novels, and fun informative books. Do be sure to stock your library books that match your students' reading levels and interests.
