Authentic Assessments
 
Anecdotal notes:  Ongoing notes that the teachers takes of the child while the child is performing some academic task.  These notes focus on the academic progress of the child.

Reading logs:  These show the teacher the depth of comprehension which the child has developed by reading some literature.

Running Records: These are done by the teacher to record the child’s strengths and weaknesses in reading.

Story maps:  These are normally done with the whole class or group of students, who  have read the same book.  Story maps may come in the form of a Venn diagram, Dioramas, murals, or charts.
