| Jim was born in near the Arkansas and Oklahoma border in 1902 to William (Bill) Petree and Myrtle Atwell (Petree). He married Alpha and fathered eight children. They lived in Stigler, Oklahoma until 1938 when they moved to Buttonwillow, California. Alpha and Jim did not have a home so their children and them lived in a tent behind Jim's sister's (Jewel) house. They later moved to Selma, California. | Vera Alpha was born in Sequayah, Oklahoma in 1906 to Mary Alice and Sherman (Shird) Russell. She married Jim and gave birth to eight children. |
