This film is based on the story "Romeo and Juliet." However is also has many elements of comedy, to break up the overhanging knowledge of tragedy. The story revolves around the central charcter, none other then Shakespeare himself, a writer who lacks insperation for a new play. He eventually falls in love with a woman, and would be actress (it was forbidden in those times, ya know!). This woman, disguised as a man, obtains the role of "Romeo" in a play that Shakespeare has yet to write. Thanks to this woman, and her love, go figure, he finds his insperation.
This film is littered with a great actors and includes Ben Affleck, Gweneth Paltrow, Colin Firth, and Joseph Fiennes. It received an amazing 13 oscar nominations.
This is quite a good film, and the costumes and attention to intricate details add to the "reality" of the film.
In the end this is a beautiful love story and any Shakespeare fan will be entertain to see the Bard given life!
