Summary: Sequel to “Not the Right Night,” “Not the Right Words,” and “Not the Right Place.” A little romance for Julian and Jake.

Jake Sisko walked up to the bar at Quark’s. Taking a seat next to Dr. Julian Bashir, he ordered a ginger ale.

“Julian.”

“Jake.”

They said nothing for several moments. It was a slightly tense silence, but not, they found, one either really wanted to break.

For the last three days, the two men had been giddy off their late night ‘lift ride. Since then they’d been careful not to appear too friendly in public. But they had stolen a few moments the night before last in the infirmary when no one was around.

They still hadn’t moved beyond kisses, not even to groping yet, really, but Jake had never felt so… Well, he didn’t know what to say to describe what he was feeling. He was just glad Julian seemed to feel the same way.

“Julian, I’ve been meaning to ask you something.”

“Oh?”

“Would you show me your Alamo program?”

Julian’s lips pursed. He hadn’t run that program with anyone since Miles had left but for Jake…

“Of course. When would you like to see it?”

“Tonight. I have about an hour booked. I know we can’t see it all but, just for starters.”

Julian smiled. He’d easily translated Jake’s words. He wanted to be alone for a while but he wasn’t ready quite yet for…

“Lead on then.”

Thirty minutes later, Julian sat with his back against the wall with Jake cuddled up beside him. They’d opened up the setting, but hadn’t even run any of the characters. Instead they’d found their current spot and necked for a bit.

“This is nice. I love being alone with you.”

Julian smiled and pressed a kiss to Jake’s forehead. “Me, too.”

“Uh, Julian…”

The doctor sat up a little at the tension in his lover’s voice. “What is it, Jake? Tell me what’s wrong.”

“It’s just… I want to make love to you.”

“Here? Now?”

“No.”

Julian sat back. Jake, he’d come to realize, didn’t always say things in the most logical order. “So what has you worried?”

“I want it to be perfect, Julian. I have it all planned out and-“

“You have it planned?”

“Well, not that. It starts with dinner. I cook for you, the first meal Dad ever cooked for my mother. Then we, uh, dance a little. Just in the living area. Then we share a bath. And then we make love.”

“You have the evening planned.”

“Yeah, only…”

Julian smoothed Jake’s frown from his forehead. “Only what?”

“Only, there’s no way Kasidy will be gone that whole time and I don’t want to wait long enough for me to get separate quarters.”

“What’s wrong with my place?”

Jake pulled away from Julian. From the startled look on his face, the doctor could tell he hadn’t even thought of that. “I’ll give the access code when we leave.”

Julian dragged his butt from the ‘lift to his quarters. He’d spent the last five hours convincing Kasidy Sisko that she wasn’t in labor early and, yes, Ben’s daughter was a healthy as could be.

If the woman hadn’t been so endearing during the last few weeks when things had been so slow, he probably wouldn’t have been so… indulgent. Still, if he saw or heard her in the next twenty-four hours, Julian would probably scream.

With the return of seemingly normal medical activity on the station, the doctor was busier than he’d wanted to be. He’d only been able to see Jake once in the last two weeks. This early in a relationship, the lack of time together could be dangerous. Still, he was too tired to do anything about it.

Julian stopped in his tracks exactly four steps into his living area. It had taken him that long to notice that the lights had all ready been on when he entered. He turned slowly and was met with the site of Jake coming out of his bathroom.

“Hi, you’re finally home. I was beginning to worry.” Jake walked up to him and kissed him lightly on his cheek. “You’re surprised to see me aren’t you.”

“I… yes.”

Jake smiled. “I know you’ve been busy lately. But I missed you.” He shrugged. “So here I am. I thought if you weren’t too tired, we could have dinner and then a bath and then…”

Julian smiled tiredly. “Let’s take this one step at a time. It’s been a long day.”

“Oh, you poor thing. Well, let’s get you some dinner at least. Come sit down.”

It was odd for Julian to be waited on in his own home. But he didn’t mind. Jake treated him to as many soft kisses as he did anything else. That was something he could get used to…

“So what did you think?”

Julian said exactly what was in his head. “You’re a great kisser.”

Jake laughed. “I meant the meal. Did you like it?”

Julian smiled. “Yes, Jake. You’re a very good cook. I’ll have to have you show me how to cook like that some time.”

“Can’t. Sisko family secret. Short of my little sister and my children, I can’t tell anyone.”

Julian smiled. “In that case, I’ll either have to get your sister to spill her guts once you show her or…” He pulled Jake into his lap and began nibbling on his neck. “Torture you until you talk.”

Jake laughed and wrapped his arms around his lover’s neck. “You ready for a bath now?”

“I was hoping we could go right to your torture… But if you insist.”

Jake led Julian into the bathroom and he found the room to be full of candles. They were all scented although the doctor couldn’t place the sweet smell. But the candles weren’t the only extra. Jake had champagne and strawberries beside the full tub. The water was set as hot as could be and guaranteed to melt way Julian’s fatigue.

Later, Julian would wonder how Jake managed to get them both naked without him seeing anything. However it happened, the doctor found himself lying against the back to the bathtub with his lover sitting so he was leaning against his chest.

The combination of Jake’s smooth skin and the warm water relaxed Julian as nothing else could. He wrapped his arms around his companion’s chest, pulled him back and rested against the tub. He closed it eyes briefly to savor the feeling and...

“Julian. Julian, wake up.”

The doctors eyes slowly opened to see Jake leaning over him. He knew he must have been asleep quite a while, given how cold the water was getting.

“Jake.” Julian reached out and took his lover’s hand. He kissed the palm and began rubbing his thumb in circles on the back of it. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.”

Jake smiled. And then knelt down beside him. “It’s okay. You were very tired and I’m glad I could relax you.”

“Jake, I know you wanted tonight to-“

The younger man stopped him with a quick kiss. “Tonight has been perfect. It’s not what I had planned but it’s been a good night.”

“Did you have your way with my body why I was out? Is that why you’ve got that smug expression?”

Jake laughed. “No, but now that I know you won’t mind… Seriously, I’m just glad you weren’t nervous and that you could relax.”

“Why would I be nervous?”

Julian’s lover did something that would bemuse him for the rest of the night. He blushed. “Well, this is the first time we’ve ever been naked together and…”

“I’ve been your doctor for nearly eight years, Jake. I’ve seen you naked before.”

“But you weren’t looking at my body as a lover would… At least I hope not. And this was the first time I’d seen you naked.”

“See anything you’d like?”

His face even darker than before, Jake could only nod shyly. His next words, however, broke his coy façade. “That’s why I woke you. Come to bed with me, Julian.”

Jake left Julian to dry off. When the older man came into the bedroom, he found it filled with more of those wonderful scented candles.

But it was the view of his soon-to-be lover that caught his breath. He’d known that Jake had a lean but healthy body. He just hadn’t realized until that moment just how beautiful all that dark skin really was.

Jake was lying on his side facing the door. His arms and chest practically glowed in the candlelight. His legs were positioned so Julian still couldn’t see anything.

But as he told Jake, he’d seen it before. And, oh, did his imagination play…

The younger man held out his hand. “You coming to bed, gorgeous? Or are you going to stare at me for the rest of the night?”

Julian walked forward and took Jake’s hand. He didn’t know why he was so shy. He’d done this before. Jake should be the one feeling nervous, not looking so outwardly calm.

Suddenly it hit him. No wonder he was nervous. This was Jake’s first time and Julian wanted it to be perfect. Just like Jake had when he’d been planning tonight.

Planning…

“We haven’t danced yet, you know.”

Jake smiled and shook his head. “For the guy who couldn’t keep his hands off me the last time I was in this room, you sure are stalling.”

“You said you wanted dancing. I’m just trying to make tonight perfect.” Not to mention I’d love to hold you a bit first… Julian pulled on Jake’s hand and tugged him out of bed. He wrapped his arms around him and called to the computer “Play back Music Selection Bashir fifteen alpha.”

Jake looped his arms around Julian’s waist and rested his head on his shoulder. He was slightly startled by the fast beat that filled the room.

“Computer halt playback. Julian, can’t our song be something a little bit more… romantic.”

“’Anyone Else’ is a romantic song.”

Jake sighed. “But I want to slow dance with you. A nice slow, snuggle in your arms type dance.”

“All right. Computer play back ‘Touch Me When We’re Dancing’.”

Jake sighed. It wasn’t exactly what he’d had in mind but it worked. He made his mind forget what he was hearing and simply concentrate on the body in his arms. Julian’s body was giving off the most incredible heat. He felt as if he’d melt from the warmth in his arms.

Jake snuggled closer and then sighed. His face was buried in the doctor’s neck and the scent he was treated with…

“Mmm. You smell so good, baby.”

Julian jerked a little at endearment. But he snuggled close as well. “How can you tell? All I can smell are those candles. But they do smell wonderful. What are they by the way?”

“Coriander. My grandmother swore by it for relaxation.”

“I don’t think that’s what you were going for.”

Jake pressed a kiss to the shoulder nearest his face. He smiled and rubbed his face against the flesh. “I wouldn’t want you to feel pressured tonight. I know you’ve been busy lately and-“

Julian covered Jake’s mouth with his own. His Jake was a sweet kid but he had a tendency to talk a little too much. It was the writer in him. It was Julian’s last thought before he lost the ability. He wasn’t too worried about the absence, though. He had Jake’s tongue instead and that was more than enough for him.

Jake broke the kiss and sighed. He rubbed his cheek again Julian’s and then licked the ear lope within his range. He blew softly and felt his lover shiver. Smiling softly, he pressed himself closer to the doctor.

Just as their lower bodies came into contact, Jake whispered, “Take me to bed.”

And Julian learned that he couldn’t deny Jake anything.
