Summary: Just another day in the Delta Quadrant

I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Breakfast was a busy time on Voyager. No one knew this better than Neelix, moral officer and chef. He’d never met a species so picky about their eggs.

Unfortunately, he’d been unable to get anyone to try his psuedo-wheat pancakes, so it was back to those stupid eggs.

Who really cared if he didn’t cook them, sunny side up?

Don’t know why
I have to drive so fast.
My car has nothing to prove.
It’s not new,
But it’ll do zero to sixty in 5-point-2.

Tom Paris’ belly rumbled softly as he stared at the undercarriage of his Camaro. He’d skipped the psuedo-meal breakfast to spend time with Scarlet.

Just a little more tweaking and she’d been ready for the open road. He sighed. It was almost a crime to get her dirty.

But he did have that drag race against Harry’s pre-programmed ’55 Thunderbird and Scarlet was going to leave him in the dust.

Oh, I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Sitting on the Bridge, Baytart really hoped Tom would be on time, this morning. Not the he minded flying, just after so many hours he wasn’t really awake for it.

Besides, he had a breakfast date with Ensign Lang.

Can’t be late.
. I leave in plenty of time.
Shaking hands with the clock,
I can’t stop.
I’m on a roll and I’m ready to rock.

Walking, slowly through the corridor, Seven of Nine vaguely wondered why humans were always late. Just that morning Tom Paris had been less than punctual to the briefing.

It was highly inefficient behavior. Something a Borg would never do.

Seven had three minutes and twelve seconds to complete her journey to Astrometrics. From past experience she knew she would arrive there in just over forty-six seconds.

If she could arrive with two minutes to spare, why couldn’t everyone else?

Oh, I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Lieutenant Ayala came on the bridge, two minutes early. He was going to relieve Tuvok for the second half of Alpha Shift.

He wasn’t really looking forward to it. He’d heard that Tom Paris was late and Chakotay had the day off, which meant that the shift would be quiet, especially with Harry Kim commanding Gamma Shift.

Not to mention that fact that bad luck always seemed to strike at the end of that rotation.

I hear a voice.
It says I’m running behind.
I’d better pick up my pace.
It’s a race,
And there ain’t no room for someone in second place.

Tuvok had begun to appreciate the holodeck. It was a refreshing break from the exercise room. Here he had the illusion that when he jogged he was actually going somewhere.

As he looked out at the Vulcan desert, he reined in the impulse to run with all his strength. Not always did he find that physical exertion helped him control his emotions.

Despite his best efforts, he did wish that they would hurry home.

Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it,
Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it,
Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it,
Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it,
Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it,

The stars streaked by the view ports, as Voyager sped through space. The beauty of such was lost on most of the crew who were rushing from one task to the other.

For all the distance they had traveled and all the splendor they had seen were little compared to the distance they still must travel and the loveliness of home.

But for this day, few had the time to stop and contemplate the view outside their window.

I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

B’Elanna Torres shot daggers at her Engineering crew. It wasn’t their fault that things were behind schedule.

It was Vorik’s. Just the sound of his name made her growl.

“I told you to change those gel-packs forty five minutes ago. I could have taught Naomi Wildman how to get it done in that length of time.”

I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Captain Kathryn Janeway, looked over at the growing pile of reports. Chakotay had the day off, which meant that she had to do all the reports instead of going over the ones he deemed important.

She decided that he needed but wouldn’t get more days off. How he ever managed to find time to run a duty shift was beyond her.

Then again, that was why he was the first officer and she was the captain.

I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

“Gallagher! Hurry up!”

She looked down at the multi-colored selection in front of her. Fuchsia or electric blue? That was the decision that was holding up the chow line.

The fuchsia didn’t go well with the chartreuse that she’d already chosen, so a spoon full of blue whatever it was quickly adorned her plate.

All in all, she didn’t understand what the hurry was.

I’m in a hurry to get things done.
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die,
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Ensign Harry Kim glanced away from his sheet music. He loved the older, non-classical style. As his eyes swept the room they fell on the chronometer.

“Shoot!!”

With a gentle toss, his clarinet landed on the couch. Harry skidded towards his door. It opened before he realized that he still had his pajamas on. He raced back into his bedroom and grabbed his uniform, deciding he could change in the turbolift.
