I love goalies. Period. It's the coolest position on the ice, and if I were to take up hockey, it would be as a goalie. So, I can proudly say we have a strong goaltending tandem here this season. No sieves here (they're at the other end of the Green Line...)!
This year, That Tapp Kid's seeing more action, which makes me very happy. He's a darn good goalie. Then there's freshman Rick DiPietro. He isn't half bad, either.

#29: DiPietro Ok, first of all, let's all figure out how to say this poor kid's name! I do believe the correct pronunciation (seeing as I've taken a little Italian and have friends with the same last name) goes something like "Dee-PEE-troh", but I tend to hear a lot of "Dee-pee-AY-tro". Odd. But whatever. I suppose I'm just being anal. Anyway, he's damn good. He just won the Eberle Trophy and Beanpot MVP for his performance in, obviously, the Beanpot. But he really needs to take a good look at Rule #1...

#83: Tapp That Tapp Kid! He was in my Ocean class. For some reason, the professor can never say his last name. I don't see how it could be so hard. Tapp. Nothing crazy here. Not like Patrick Roy (prounounced HWAH!)or anything. But like I said, he'll be a good successor to Michel. I was rather amused by what his roommate, Jack Baker, said to him, mainly because it was my biggest question too. Baker said, "My first question was, 'What's with the number 83?'" Apparently he wears it to honor his younger sister, who was born in 1983 and has some sort of illness, though I forget what it is. Aww...I think that's sweet...
And here it is folks, the story behind the nickname...That Tapp Kid:
Way back in last March sometime, there was an article in the Freep about the rookies. Ah, the Freep. Only in the Daily Free Press can there be a big article on Tom Poti, complete with a picture....of Mike Sylvia. Oops. I don't think they ever noticed the mistake. But I'm pontificating.
Back to the rookie article. I read it, and they said we'd be getting in freshman goalie Andy Tapp from Canada. I was like, "Ok, that's cool." THEN, sometime later, I was on the USCHO site looking up the new freshmen, and they had our new goalie named Jason Tapp. Uh-oh. What the hell's his first name? So I called him "That Tapp Kid" because I didn't know if he was Andy or Jason. And now that I do know his name, That Tapp Kid has kinda stuck with myself and the Training Staff. But that's the story. Not quite as fun as you'd expcet, huh? Sorry!
