What you are about to read is an account of what a sister in Christ was subject
to in the Church of Bible Understanding by the hands of Stewart Traill. I will refrain from commenting on what Ann has written here. I want you to read and understand it yourself and consider our sisters who still live in that place. I will say that I spent 6 hours with Ann in December. I also have had 5 phone calls with her. She is the Ann we knew in COBU. She is still as gentle and kind. She had to recover from what Stewart did and may I say, I think she has made great progress.
I asked her if Stewart ever apologized, ever asked her for forgiveness, ever made any
attempt to contact her and at least acknowledge what he did to her. Ann said that Stewart never made any contact whatsoever. She said that Sara and Shelly made mention that Stewart was “getting in over his head, keeping so many women, and that
now he was keeping them for Jesus." She also said that Gayle helpers said that Stewart blamed Noel for “drawing him into her.” Noel is still in COBU. After the Grace Meeting of 1989 Gayle invited Ann to write her a letter. Ann did. Gayle then asked Ann where her black evening dress was. This was all the communication Ann ever got concerning Stewart’s behavior toward her.
