CLOVIS, N.M. — Richard R. ‘Dick’ Malone, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in The Chapel with Dr. Frank Sherman officiating. Military honors will be by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Malone was born in Hope, Ark. He moved to Clovis in 1979. He served during World War II with the 200th Coast Artillery Unit and was held as a prisoner of war for 40 months. He was a member of the Bataan Veterans Association. After the war, he entered a career in administration with the Atomic Energy Commission. He attended the University of New Mexico. Mr. Malone married Arlene Smith in 1947 at Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his wife and by a son, Bobby Malone. Survivors include a brother, Robert Malone of Carlsbad; a sister, Gladys Radcliffe of Duncan, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Sue Nix of Clovis and Winn Larner of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
