Harold A. Knighton

CLOVIS, N.M. — Harold A. Knighton, 84, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas P. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Knighton was born in Stamps, Ark., and had been a Clovis resident since 1945.

Mr. Knighton was a World War II veteran. He was assigned to the 200th National Guard from Clovis then served in the Philippines with the Army. He was a survivor of Bataan’s Death March and was a prisoner of war for three years.

Mr. Knighton retired from the Postal Service in 1974. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ex POW's, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Knighton; a son, Terry L. Knighton of Grants; and two grandsons.
