Clifton ‘Tim’ Cockrell


ANSON, TEX., MAY 24, 1999 — Clifton ‘Tim’ Cockrell, 85, died Sunday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Tuxedo, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Cockrell was born in Amarillo and attended school in Estancia, N.Mex. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Bataan Death March. He moved to Anson in 1974 and worked as a national cemetery superintendent. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of American Ex-Prisoners of War, Disabled American Veterans and American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He married Traleta DeBusk in 1946 in Santa Fe, N. Mex.

Survivors include his wife, of Anson; one son, John Clifton Cockrell of Anson; and one brother, Clinton ‘Mike’ Cockrell.
