One of three men who raised the first American flag to fly over Japan, after Japanís verbal surrender, at Mukaishima prisoner-of-war camp, Honshu Island, Japan on August 18, 1945, Sgt. Rhodun Martin Bussell, G Battery 515th Coast Artillery, passed away in Shertz, Texas on September 11, 2002. Mr. Bussell was awarded two Bronze Stars.
