PASUGUAN NG PILIPINAS
EMBASSY OF THE PHILIPPINES
WASHINGTON, D.C.
On behalf of the Philippine Embassy, I wish to
extend my felicitations to the Bataan-Corregidor
Memorial Foundation of New Mexico.
Your project to dedicate a memorial for the
heroic actions of the New Mexico 200th and 515th
Coast Artillery whose young men were stationed
in the Philippines at the beginning of the
Second World War is truly laudable.
The ultimate sacrifice they made was the price
for the liberty and freedom which we now enjoy.
The memorial is a fitting reminder of the
enduring relevance of the alliance between the
Philippines and the United States which is over
50 years now. We were allies not only during
WWII but also during the Korean War, the Vietnam
war, the Cold War, and we are allies again in
the international campaign against terrorism.
The bedrock of this alliance is our shared
values of individual freedom, democracy and
social justice.
The exemplary courage and selflessness of the
200th and 515th Coast Artillery should always be
honored and must never be forgotten.
