Why Does Ryouga hate Ranma? And "Why is Ryouga so lost?"
The bread feud is really what started it all. When they were in middle school, Ryouga would always get beat up by Ranma for the last piece of Curry Bread. So the bread feud began. Ryouga challenged Ranma to a fight in the vacant lot behind the Hibiki house. They both left at the same time, but it took Ryouga 5 days to get there. Ranma waited, but Genma showed up on the 3rd day to take Ranma on a training mission. Ryouga didn't exactly believe him. ("Sure you showed up, but by the time I got there you had turned tail and run!") Then of course there's the curse. I already have a section about that later. Last, but not least, is Akane. For some oddball reason Ryouga loves her! She hates him. (Hence the ShiShi Hokodon attack is so successful) So Ryouga naturally blames who she really loves, Ranma. Ryouga does have a heart of glass….
Now the "eternally lost boy" bit. Apparently, it's genetic. All the Hibikis are hideously lost. In one episode his parents call him. Of course, while the Hibikis are all lost, they're all super-strong!
Who should Ryouga end up with?
Ukyou! Akane is Ranma's, nobody can deny that. Shampoo? No way, that's never a possibility. Nabiki or Kasumi? Are you kidding your self!?!?!?! Ranko… ::hack:: ::cough:: can you hear what you're thinking!?!?
It's all Ranma's fault, Ryouga isn't wrong in hating him for that. After Ranma didn't show up for the bread feud, Ryouga followed him and…. Got lost! Eventually he ended up on a cliff in China, right as a panda jumps by and lands on his head. Then a certain red-headed girl kicks him off the cliff as "she" runs after the panda and he lands right in a spring. Of course, the Jusenkyo guide finds him, and he and Genma decide Pork sounds verrrry good.
What are his special Martial Arts techniques you ask?
First, he has a million bandanas he can throw like blades, (Hence Akane has short hair ::sweat drop::) he can also make his belt like a sword. Later, he learns Bakusai Tenketsu from Cologne, Shampoo's Great Grandmother. In the episode (One of my favs!) she sets him up in a fight with Ranma for Akane's love. It involes 6 days of throwing boulders at Ryouga before he finally breaks one, but he gets it down!
Then he learns ShiShi Hokoudon from a miner. It was a technique used to clear blocked tunnels by using "heavy ki" or sadness. He perfects it after Akane tells him "I hate you!"
The name spelling: Ryoga vs. Ryouga and "What's with the fangs?"
Ryoga is what Viz is using to spell his name, and what is used in Video games etc. But if you take the Kanji for his name, and translate it literally into Romanji, it should be "Ryou" meaning fang! That's why he has some, it's a pun on his name.
He's so cute! Those fangs, the depressed personality, the heart of glass! I just love him sooo much!
