The next day, Antonia set her bag down by the bed in the hotel room, and set her golf clubs by the window. Just hen, she heard someone walk in behind her. She turned around to see Nick. "What do you want?"
"You're here too?" he asked. "They told me this was my room!"
"Well get out! It's not!" Nick dropped his bag and golf clubs. "Listen, you-"
"No, you listen," Nick said, his anger rising. "You are such a spoiled, whiny, selfish, little brat and seeing as how we're gonna have to share this room for a week, which has only one bed, we have to get along. We can get along when you snap back to reality and stop being a bitch!" With that, he walked out and slammed the door.
"Jeez, what's his problem? I don't understand where he gets off-" She stopped when she heard a knock at the door. She went over and opened the door. "Alex? What are you doing here?"
"Me? What are you doing here? Nick told me this was his room."
"Well, aparently it's our room."
Alex just stood there for a second and then burst out laughing. "Ha! The two people that despise each other more than old cheese have to share a room for a week!" He pushed his way in and then started laughing harder. "With one bed! Ah, this just keeps getting better!"
Antonia went up to him and smacked him. "Knock it off."
"Ouch!"
"Big baby. I don't despise Nick."
"Then what do you call it?"
I like him, okay? she thought. "Oh, just a little touch of hate."
"Yeah, sure."
"You never answered my question. What are you doing here?"
"I'm your caddy."
"You are?"
"I convinced Nick to let me come along because I wanted to talk to you. We need to work on our plan. And Brian is here as Nick's caddy."
"When were you going to inform me?"
"I am right now, aren't I?"
Antonia sighed. "So what happened?"
They both sat down on the bed.
"I did like you told me to and I left the note for Gabriella. She called me back but said that she was already going somewhere with Scott."
"Damn it! He probably grounded her."
"Toni, I'm gonna be truthful with you."
"Well, good."
"I'm being serious. I really like your sister. And I really don't like her boyfriend. I haven't met him yet but the way you talk about him, he sounds like a real jerk."
"Trust me, he's all that and a bag of extra fattening chips."
Alex laughed. "So will you help me?"
"Help you do what?" Nick asked walking back into the room.
"Um, nothing Nick. I'm gonna leave anyway."
"I'll walk you to the door," Antonia offered. They walked over to the door and Antonia leaned over and whispered, "I will totally help you. She needs someone like you. You're a good man. Scott isn't."
"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow, bright and early."
"Bye. See ya." Antonia walked back into the room and sat down on the bed.
"I'm gonna take a shower," Nick said.
"Are you waiting for my approval?"
"You really are a bitch."
"Thank you, Nick. That means a lot coming from you." She grabbed the remote and turned on the television.
He gave her a look and then walked into the bathroom.
About twenty minutes later, Antonia looked up and saw Nick walk out of the bathroom in only a towel. She didn't realise how gorgeous he was and he was all wet, too.
"Antonia!"
She shook her head and looked up at him. "What?"
He laughed at her. "You can close your mouth and stop staring now."
"I am not staring!"
"Yes you are! But it's not like there's really much to look at."
"Huh? You have a very gorgeous body." She looked down and blushed as she realized what she had said.
"Thanks. I'm sure that you do, too." He picked up some clothes and headed back into the bathroom.
Antonia slapped her forehead. "Oh my God! Did I just say that? What the hell was I thinking? Oh my God!"
Nick walked back out in a pair of green boxers and a white tank top. "If you want me to sleep on the floor, I will, seeing as how there are no other girls that you can stay with. But I-"
"No, it's okay. We have to get up early tomorrow and you can't be sleeping on that hard floor. Look, I'm willing to try to get along with you if you're willing to get along with me." She held out her hand.
"Well, okay," he said and laughed. He took a hold of her hand and shook it but neither of them made any attempt to let go.
"Where the hell have you been?" Scott screamed as Gabriella and Sherri walked in the door.
Gabriella gasped. "Scott! What are you doing here?"
"Obviously waiting for you!"
"She was out with me, Scott," Sherri snapped back.
"Well good for you, Sherri," Scott growled. "Let me see what you got." Scott grabbed her bags. "You spent fifty dollars on a shirt? A shirt!"
"It's her money!"
"Sherri, shut up! I-" He stopped when the door opened and Nathan walked in. "Hey Nathan!"
"Hey, man. What's up?" Nathan replied.
"Just coming over to get my woman." The two of them laughed.
"Well have fun. Sherri, you want a drink?"
"Sure, Nathan." Sherri gave Scott one last look and then followed Nathan into the kitchen.
Scott grabbed Gabriella's arm. "Let's go."
"But Scott-"
He jerked hard on her arm and dragged her out to the car. "Come on."
"But Scott, I don't want to go anywhere!"
He whipped around and grabbed her shoulders. "Get in the fucking car."
She started shaking and slowly nodded her head. She felt tears well up in her eyes but fought them back for all that she was worth. She slowly walked over to the other side of his car and got in.
The next morning, Antonia slowly opened her eyes and stretched. She closed her eyes again and rolled over. Something smelled good so she moved closer to it. When she opened her eyes again, she was face to face with Nick. She jumped back and nearly fell out of the bed. She let out a sigh and got out of the bed so she didn't wake Nick up. She just stood there for a minute and stared at him as he slept. He really was gorgeous and he looked a lot like Jason but there was something about Nick that made him more stunning than Jason. She shrugged it off and walked into the bathroom.
Nick was having a nice peaceful dream when it was interrupted by a scream. When he realized that it was Antonia, he jumped out of bed and raced into the bathroom. He saw her sitting on the floor, leaning against the bathtub. "Oh my God, are you okay?"
She rubbed her head. "I tripped on your clothes."
"Oh my God I'm so sorry!" He went over to her and kneeled down next to her.
"How come I keep getting head injuries because of you?"
He laughed. "I have no idea! Are you okay?"
"Yeah I think so." She took his outstretched arms as he helped her up. She didn't want to let go so she pretended that she was dizzy. He held her up and helped her over to the bed. Nick kiss me, she thought.
"Do you need anything?"
"By chance, did you bring any Advil, or something?"
"Yeah. I'll get it for you."
"Thanks." She put her hands over her face. I can't be falling for him. I hate him! But God, he's so gorgeous...but you have a boyfriend! Jeez-
"Here."
She looked up at him. "Thanks." He sat down next to her and, once again, she found herself looking into his eyes, mesmerized.
