The Sleepover
After a couple weeks of living with the Temps, Keegan had
pretty much gotten back to her normal life as a 14 year old girl.
Her and her parents had even arranged for a sleepover where all
of her closest friends could come and meet her new family. She had
invited over 8 of her girl friends. The ones that she had invited
were, Kaycee, Ivy, Klare, Monica, Emilee, Rose, McKenzie, and
Erykah. The guests were scheduled to arrive at 7:30 at Keegan's
home.
"Mom, I have everything ready downstairs. Extra blankets
pillows, food, drinks, EVERYTHING," Keegan said to her
mom.
"Okay, your father should be home pretty soon, I hope. Tell
me Keegan, are there going to be any boys coming?"
"I don't THINK so. But our friends Jason, Allen, Mark,
Dylan, Drey, and Chip know that we're having this thing. I think
you've met Drey, haven't you?"
"Yeah, he came by last Wednesday when you were at Ivy's.
He seems like a nice guy."
"He's DAMN fine too!!" Both mother and daughter laughed at
Keegan's comment. "We'll probably end up calling them or
something, and they might drop by. Do you mind if they do for a
little bit?"
"No, just let us know if they are."
"Okay. Oooh, it's 7:25, the peeps'll be here soon. I'm gonna go
out on the front porch to wait." Keegan left the room and her
mother watched her. Sara loved her daughter very much. She was
wearing a white tank top, with a black cardigan sweater over it
and unbuttoned. She was also wearing Bootleg jeans and had her
clear plastic sunglasses perched on top of her head. Sara herself
was wearing Keegan's dark smoke blue tank top with fish on it and
loose fitting jeans. She was barefoot from being around the house
all day, but Keegan was wearing black leather sandals. They both
had matching plain silver toe rings on their left second toe. They
had bought these on the second day the Temps were with Keegan.
"Mom, Dad's home!" Keegan called. A couple minutes later,
Dan Temp walked into the kitchen. He layed his briefcase on the
counter and kissed his lounging wife. She sat on a kitchen stool
pulled up to the island reading a magazine. Dan was wearing a
black suit and a white shirt with a black tie.
"No guests yet?" He asked.
"Nope," his wife answered, "But we'll have eight and maybe
more soon."
"More?"
"Yeah, Keegan said that their guy friends might drop by
later, I told her it was all right."
"Okay. I'm going to go get changed quick." He retrieved his
briefcase and went up the stairs. A few minutes after peaceful
silence had settled around Sara, it was broken again by the sound
of nine 13, 14 and 15 year old girls trampling through the living
room and down into the basement. Not even a minute later the
sound came again as the girls came back up the stairs and into the
kitchen.
"Guys, this is my mom, Sara Temp. Mom, my friends, Ivy,
Kaycee, Monica, Erykah, Rose, Emilee, Klare, and McKenzie."
"Hello girls, nice to see you again Ivy."
"Mom, can we order pizza and invite the guys over for a
little bit?"
"Sure, you invite the guys from your phone, and I'll call the
pizza place. How does pepperoni and extra cheese sound?"
"GREAT!" the girls chorused. Keegan and her friends went
down the hall to Kee's room to call the guys, and Sara got up and
went over to the phone. She called for the pizza, and then sat with
Dan at the counter before they would go to get the pizza. Keegan
wandered into the room.
"So, when's the pizza gonna be here?"
"Your dad and I are going to go pick it up in a few
minutes."
"Okay," Keegan started to leave the room when the phone
rang. She was walking past it, so she picked it up. It was Judy, her
social worker.
"Hello?"
"Hi Keegan! How's life?"
"Pretty good, how's it goin for you?"
"Pretty good, guess what?"
"What?"
"Don't tell your mom and dad, but you know how they
wanted a son too? We've found a kid for you guys. You're gonna
have a big brother if your parents decide to take him!"
"COOL!! I know they will. Tell me some stuff."
"Well, he's kind of a delinquent, but he's a sweet kid, and I
know you'd like him, he was just messed up with the wrong crowd,
His name's Rian Alexander Murphy."
"Keeg, we're leaving," Dan said as he walked out of the room
while Keegan was chatting with Judy.
"WAIT!! It's Judy, she needs to talk to you! Judy, here's my
dad, they were about to leave, you have to tell me more later!" She
handed the phone to Dan and rushed from the room, she went into
her room.
"Hey guys, let's go outside to wait for Drey and the guys," She
suggested. As they walked through the kitchen, she looked at Dan.
He was off the phone and now Sara was on. He had the hugest
smile on his face. "I'll meet you guys out there." She told her friends.
They kept walking. She stood by her dad and watched Sara.
"OH MY GAWD!!!!!! REALLY????? AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!"
Dan took the phone from his ecstatic wife and Sara grabbed Kee
and pulled her into a warm hug. "This is SO cool!!" She exclaimed.
Dan talked to Judy for a couple more minutes to arrange things,
then he hung up the phone.
"Sara, why don't we get the pizza before it freezes," He told
his wife. She grabbed her coat and followed him, taking his hand.
Keegan smiled at her happy parents and walked in the opposite
direction of them, out onto the porch.
"What was all that about?" Ivy asked.
"I'm getting a brother."
"Really??" asked Kaycee.
"Yeah, he's older, and a delinquent, but he seems pretty cool
from what little info I got from Judy. My mom's ecstatic." Just then
a junky red van pulled up and six guys got out. Drey smiled at
Keegan as soon as he got out of the way back. Chip had just gotten
his license and he was driving his crappy red van
EVERYWHERE.
"Hey Keegan," Drey said. He looked really good, wearing an
Independence T-shirt and big pants. He was really hot and Keegan
had liked him for a while. McKenzie had told him that Keegan like
him a couple days earlier. He like her too. He came over and slid
his arm around her tiny waist. "How's it goin'?
"Pretty good," she answered.
"Hi girls," Chip said. Chip liked any form of the female species
he could get his hands on.
"How's it goin' MacKenzie?" Allen asked, walking over and
putting his arms around Kenz. He picked her up and hugged her.
They had been going out for about a month. Ivy liked Mark a lot
and had for a long time. But only Kee and Kaycee knew that.
"So, let's go in the house." They walked in and started for the
back. "My room or the basement?"
"I'd say your room, but there're lots of people here. So how
'bout the basement?" Drey teased. She smiled at him.
"You're so cute. Basement it is." They all headed for the
basement. They sat around and just chatted for a while until Dan
called down.
"Pizza's here!!"
"Ooh...I'll be right back." Keegan went up the stairs, taking
them two at a time. "Mmmm...smells good." She pulled one of the
three pizzas out and headed to the basement. Her mom stopped her
by lightly catching her arm.
"Keegan, would you mind if we met your guy friends
too?"
"Why not? I'll go get them." She ran down the stairs. "Guys,
my mom wants to meet you. Come on." The guys listened to her and
stood up. Drey had already told them that her new mom was
pretty cool, and they were wondering if she really was. They all
walked up the stairs. "Mom, this is Jason, Mark, Chip, Dylan,
Allen, and you already know Drey. Guys, my mom Sara."
"Hi," they said, almost together.
"Hello boys," Sara leaned against the counter. "So Drey, are
you and my daughter like, a couple?"
"MOM!" Keegan blushed. The guys chuckled.
"What, I'm just ASKING!"
"If she'll let us be..." Drey said.
"Okay, enough small talk, let's go." Keegan started to lead
them away when her father came in.
"Hi Keegan, aren't you going to introduce me to your friends
here?"
"Dad this is JasonMarkChipDylanAllenandDrey. Guys, my
Dad Dan. Now bye!" She pulled the guys away and she could hear
her mother and father laughing at her in the kitchen.
"They're so EMBARRASSING sometimes!" She exclaimed as
they walked down the stairs.
"Your Mom's pretty hot though. Especially in that tank top!"
Chip told her.
"YUCK!!" Keegan almost shouted, "That's gross! She's my
Mom!! And that's MY shirt! " She went over to the soft blue
chair that Drey was sitting in and cautiously sat on his lap.
"Well, you're over there sitting on Drey's lap like you own the
place. I betcha he's getting pretty hot himself!" Dylan exclaimed.
Dylan liked Kee, so of course he was going to protest.
"She COULD own the place! She just doesn't. Not like I mind
having a hot chick on my lap." Drey defended. Just then Chip's
beeper went off.
"It's Elton. My mom's coming home!! We gotta go!! Bye girls,
check ya later!" Chip ran up the stairs and the guys quickly
followed. Allen quickly gave Kenzie a small kiss on the lips and
ran off. Drey kissed Keegan, much to her surprise, then rushed
after Allen up the stairs. Elton was Chip's older brother. Chip
wasn't supposed to leave his house on Friday nights, or Saturday
nights, because his mom always had to pick him up at the police
station when he did. He kind of got in trouble a lot.
The rest of the night the girls ate pizza, talked about boys,
and just did what 13, 14, and 15 year old girls did when no boys or
parents were around.
The next morning after the guests had left, Keegan sat down
with her parents to discuss the brother thing. It ended up, Her
parents had talked to Judy later that night. (She had come over,
and Keegan hadn't even noticed.) And they were going to adopt
Rian. They showed Keegan the picture of him, and he had longish
brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was skinny and has big hands
with long fingers. Keegan couldn't wait to be the little sister!
