PLAYER SPOTLIGHT #7

Pancho O'Reilly
9.2 apg, 3.6 spg
BY:Sean Pratten

Pancho O'Reilly is no doubt one of the best Point Guards in the USIBL. Co-MVP of the Inaugural Season of USIBL Pancho made an impact on and off the court to the powerful St. Louis Crusaders. Along with Superstars Max Baez and Dante Robinson St. Louis is 6-3 at the AS Break, and look to continue strong onto the playoffs looking for that ring and payback.
At the break, Pancho is averaging 9.2apg and 3.6spg both among the league leaders. He is not known as a scorer, but can shoot the lights out ala Jason Kidd when needed. St. Louis is facing tougher competition with Alaska and Honolulu having good seasons and with players like Uzi Thundakowski who has reportedly faced legal issues, they must improve to have a legitimate shot at the East winner, if they get through Honolulu or Alaska.
Selected to start in his 2nd All-Star Game, O'Reilly looks to have a new beginning starting with the AS Game and looks to lead the Crusaders through its last 5 games and deep into destiny. The USIBL Championship is what they want, Pancho wants it as bad as any in the league and with the West as weak as it is and O'Reilley mannin the Crusades, watch out Buffalo or Chicago, St. Louis will be ready for battle.
Interview with Pancho O'Reilly.
Spotlight: Right now your 6-3 and tied with Honolulu at the AS Break, do
Pancho: Man, Honolulu is on a trip. They just upset Chicago, and now they think they're on top of the world. Big deal, upsets happen. If we get to play them in the second half, we'll tear 'em up. We're not gonna lose in the second half of the season, so I'm not worried you have any expectations for the 2nd half of the season?
Spotlight: This year people dont take St. Louis as a real threat to Buffalo for the Championship. Whats your take on that?
Pancho: We're not the same team as last year, but we have a better shooting guard, and I'm the best point guard in the league. We're definitely a threat to them, they should be scared, and I think they take us seriously, while the rest of the league doesn't. Tim Johnson doesn't though, I know that. He's a tool, and we're gonna kick his ass
Spotlight: Whats your thought on C Max Baez? Is he a MVP Candidate?
Pancho: Definitely. He scores for us every game, gets us second chances with all his rebounds. He goes hard all the time, and plays defense as well as any center in the league. I'd vote for him in a second.
Spotlight: Who did you vote for the West AS Team and why? And can you guys take out the East?
Pancho: I voted for myself, of course, Kobe McGrady at point guard; Fred Strong and JaMichael Harvey at SG; Dante Robinson and Abdul Johnson at SF, Troy Hutson and Colin Falls at PF; and Max Baez and Keith Logan at C. I did it because they're the best. I think we can take down the East if we do our best, but it's gonna be tough.
Spotlight: Who do you think is the most underrated player in the game?
Pancho: Fred Strong, for sure. Even our teammates doubt him. I think I'm the only one in the league who appreciates his talent. He shoots well, plays good defense, and is unselfish. You couldn't ask for much more out of him; I think he's as good as JaMichael Harvey.
